Learner and volunteer experiences

"I've done a lot of courses but this is the first one that makes a difference." (learner comment)

Sophie talks about all the things she gained from undertaking CALA at SCQF level 5 in the video below.

Using her active citizenship skills, a Glasgow learner helped to build a beautiful mural at Flourish House, which inspires more people to use the garden.

Five young people from Easter Ross took part in the SQA Level 5 Community Action & Leadership Award in 2016/17.  The course was run by Lead Scotland and supported by Connecting Young Carers.  Please see the video below for their experiences.

West Dunbartonshire learners Brian and Neil have been developing their leadership skills trying  to influence change with a bus company.  The bus routes have changed and this means a long walk to the nearest stop to their house.  They raised 100 signatures on a petition that they created to raise awareness and support for this issue.

Inverclyde learners created an accessible flyer and raised awareness of Macular Degeneration in the local community.  Photographs of the Inverclyde group working together with the local support group.

Learners have been experimenting with online tools to learn in different waysl.  Deborah, Highland learner, showcases using the free fotobabble tool with her comments on being involved with the course.
